Rangat:
Rangat is an island spread over 1070 km in Middle Andaman with beautiful beaches and gusty sea breezes. It is about 170km from Port Blair by Road. A perfect getaway from the city crowds to a quiet country side.
How to Reach?
By Road:It is about 170 km from Port Blair. One can reach here by State Transport operated buses or Private buses. Buses take 6-7 hrs depending on weather conditions. Private cab can also be hired from Port Blair to take a tour across this place.
By Sea:Ferries from Havelock, Neil Island and Long Island operate on alternate day basis. By Sea it takes 4-5 hr. Ferries from Havelock leaves in morning leaves at around 10:30 am reaching Rangat via Long island at 3:00pm.
When to Visit ?
Rangat is season long open. During November to February the sun is on the brighter side here. Monsoon season the place is cloudy and one can enjoy gusty sea breeze of its Pristine beaches without getting tan.
Places to Visit:
- Amkunj Beach:
It is one the most famous beach on the way to Cuthbert bay. White sand beach stretch and holds a mesmerizing view for one to fathom. It is located 8 km from Rangat city center. Its blue water is shallow ideal for swimming however the shoreline is little rocky one has to be little careful.
- Yerrata:
It is located 8km from Rangat. It has Walkway that leads through different variety of Mangrove. The walk is well maintained and has Ecofriendly huts for tourist to rest. The Distance of the walkway is 300 meters
- Moricedera:
It is about 12 km from Rangat. The beach perfect for picnic and uniqueness of this beach is its volcanic rock formation near the shoreline. One can view sunrise here with absolutely no crowd. The beach has ecofriendly sea facing sit outs. The walk through the twin volcanic rock leads to spectacular view of the horizon.
- Dhaninallah:
It is name after a mangrove “Dhanipatti”. It is about 20 km from Rangat. It has the longest walkway in the country through Mangrove creek for a distance of 713 meters. The walkway lead to beautiful beach known as Dhaninallah beach, which is also famous for turtle nesting. One can see hatchery of Sea Turtles maintained by wildlife officials.
